INTRODUCTION
Year-end awards are awarded only to members of WWHA in good standing and to horses owned by WWHA members in good standing. In the case of joint ownership, all owners must be members in good standing of the WWHA at the time points are earned.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for an end-of-year award, a horse must be exhibited at a minimum of three WWHA affiliated shows and must compete in a minimum of three identically worded classes, i.e. 15.2 and under mares, Plantation 3 gait, etc. A minimum of 20 points will be required for an award to be given.
Championship Classes: After meeting the criteria above, a horse may earn points in identically worded championship classes based on the point scale.
Points will be awarded in classes having two or more entries. Any class held with only one entry, will be considered a qualifying class, and the exhibitor will receive one point for participation. Any class entered and completed without receiving a placement will be considered a qualifying class.
All WWHA debts and current dues must be paid prior to the start of any given show before any points will accrue. Points earned by a contender prior to payment of ALL debts and current membership dues for the year shall not count toward year-end awards.
INTRASTATE AWARDS
Points will be given in all registered TWH classes held in the State of Wisconsin providing that such shows are affiliated with a recognized USDA HIO program (i.e. SHOW) or meet the requirements herein. Exception: Amateur Country Pleasure Division TWHBEA registration not required. Points accrued within the State of Wisconsin shall only be eligible for awards to be known as Wisconsin Intrastate Awards.
INTERSTATE AWARDS
Points will be given in all registered TWH classes outside the State of Wisconsin provided that such shows are affiliated with a recognized USDA HIO program. Exception: Amateur Country Pleasure Division TWHBEA registration not required. Points accrued outside the State of Wisconsin shall be eligible only for awards known as Wisconsin Interstate Awards.
In addition to meeting the criteria of exhibiting in three identical classes for eligibility for an Interstate Award, it is necessary for the member to participate in one or more WWHA sponsored shows. Participation means exhibiting, working on a committee, sponsoring a class, volunteering, etc. After meeting the aforementioned qualifications, the Point Committee reserves the right to combine the balance of classes in any division towards one award. A show bill from each out of state show must accompany submitted records for point consideration. The class(es) exhibited in must be clearly marked for clarification of identical classes. Show bills must also clearly identify the affiliating body.
TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP
If a horse is sold by a WWHA member in good standing prior to October 01, points previously earned may be transferred to the new owner, providing the new owner is a current member of WWHA in good standing. If the new owner is not a member, points will remain with the previous owner. The horse will not be awarded any points in subsequent shows until the new owner becomes a member of WWHA. At this point, all points accrued prior to the date of sale may be transferred to the new owner. If there is such a change of ownership, it shall be the responsibility of the seller to inform the new owner of this rule, and to inform the WWHA Point System Chairman of the new ownership and the date of the transfer of ownership.
DIVISIONS
FLATSHOD PLEASURE
In this division, entries that exhibit in Lite Shod, Classic Park, Amateur Trail Pleasure, or Amateur Country Pleasure classes are eligible for year end awards. All other eligibility rules apply.
HALTER
In this division, entries are presented in hand, in either a halter or bridle as dictated in the specific class requirements. All other eligibility rules apply.
EQUITATION
In this division, the exhibitor not the horse is judged. Therefore, only the exhibitor is eligible for points. The exhibitor must be a member in good standing. All other eligibility rules apply.
CLASSIC PARK
In this division, points will be earned in Show and Park Pleasure classes as described in the SHOW Rule Book. All other eligibility rules apply.
PERFORMANCE
In this division, points will be earned in Performance Horse classes as described in the SHOW Rule Book. All other eligibility rules apply.
VERSATILITY
Versatility contenders are to apply all of their Pleasure and Versatility classes towards this award (excludes Equitation classes). Therefore, a horse competing in this division is not eligible for a separate award within either of the Pleasure Divisions. For exceptions, see "HOW TO SUBMIT POINTS". To qualify, an exhibitor must:
- Exhibit at a minimum of three approved shows
- Compete in a minimum of three identical pleasure or versatility Walking Horse Classes
- Accumulate at least 20 points from any combination of versatility classes other than 2 or 3 gait Classic Park or Pleasure classes
- Youth Versatility: Points will be awarded to a horse and rider combination only. Youth rail classes and all versatility classes (Youth and Open) apply
- Open Versatility: Points will be awarded to the Horse. More than one rider may accumulate points for the horse. (Youth classes do not apply).
YOUTH
In this division, awards will be made to a horse and rider combination only. The rider must be a member in good standing of the WWHA and the horse must be owned by a member in good standing of the WWHA. Points for all Youth Classes shall be combined toward one or more Year End Award(s) after eligibility has been met. Only classes specified as Youth Classes will be used to compile points for this award; Exception: see Versatility Division, Section d. A horse receiving a Youth Award may, with a different adult or youth rider, qualify for an open pleasure, versatility or second Youth award.
For horse show purposes, a youth exhibitor is an individual who on January 1st of the show year, has not reached his or her 18th birthday. If an exhibitor is 17 on January 1st and turns 18 on January 2nd, the exhibitor is still eligible to show as a Youth exhibitor all that year.
HOW TO SUBMIT POINTS
The owner or exhibitor of a horse competing for points must designate on the current point tally sheet in which division points are to be awarded. It is not permissible to divide points between pleasure and/or versatility within the Interstate or the Intrastate System. Pleasure and/or versatility horses may elect to use their points in Pleasure under either Interstate or Intrastate and versatility under the opposite system. Exception: Any horse qualifying for an award as stated above may also qualify in the Youth Division with a different rider.
The owner and/or exhibitor of a horse shall be responsible for notifying the Point System Chairman, in writing, and must use the current 2011 Point System Tally Sheet for both Intrastate and Interstate Awards. A show bill from each OUT OF STATE show must be submitted with the approved tally sheet and MUST clearly indicate that the show is affiliated with a recognized USDA program as well as clearly marking the name of each class shown in.
If the owner or exhibitor fails to comply with the above rules prior to the deadline, consideration for an award will not be given. There will be no exceptions.
The calendar year for the point system shall be from October 01 thru September 30 of the following year. EXCEPTION: Points earned at a multi-day show starting on or before September 30 and extending into October shall count toward awards for the current show season.
POINT SCALE: Points will be awarded in all approved Walking Horse classes according to the following scale:
